There are a lot of sites on the internet to search for flights and other travel options. As a matter of fact, online travel agencies like Expedia and Orbitz disrupted the travel industry when they first launched by making much of a travel agent’s work redundant. Nowadays, anyone with an internet connection has access to practically the same information the pros do and one of the best platforms to perform your flight research is Google Flights.
Unlike online travel agencies or portals, Google Flights doesn’t act as a travel broker, but merely as an information provider. It quickly and easily aggregates all the of the flight data out there and displays pricing. Should you decide to purchase a flight you find, you will have the option of choosing which company you’d like to book through and be directed to that site.
Why does that matter?
Because that means that you not only get unbiased information, but that Google Flights can offer you more options for filtering the data because that’s its purpose – to be an information provider, not to sell you something.
Stacked with features, Google Flights, is my preferred go-to platform when I’m booking cash flights and flights on points. However, because there are so many functions, it’s not always easy to navigate or to use it to its full potential without some direction.
